to hold it in or not...thats the question

So. Recently I went with my friend to his brother's house...and all of his brothers and their girlfriends were there. We had brought a dimebag of orange kush with us and rolled a blunt. We lit it up and we all started smoking...I took a huge hit...held in for 2 seconds...then blew out...then took another and did the same. I was met with blank stares. Everyone started asking me "Why don't you hold it in?" I said that it creates tar in your lungs...wich is bad. They are REALLY BIG on holding in hits for like..10-30 seconds. So my question is...what do YOU guys do? Take a huge hit and hold it in...or take many huge hits?

This topic is very controversial...

I hold it in a lil...10secs at the most. Usually more like 5seconds at the most though, but sometimes I get carried away, especially when stoned and don't realize I'm holding it so long.

ahaha, good story, i remember getting so baked, i tried to hold in my next puff for as long as i could... long story short i passes out for about a minute. good chron that night

Pretty sure 95% of the THC in the smoke you inhale is absorbed instantly, so holding it in theoretically doesn't do much but allow the smoke to deposit tar in your lungs and possibly make you dizzy from oxygen deprivation..which isn't exactly optimal. I like to hold it in just a second or two, to feel the smoke and the rush.

Same for me. But I must say, 90% of the people I know who smoke hold their hits in for a long time.

yeah, I remember reading somewhere about 4 seconds. Supposidly most of the THC is absorbed around 4 full seconds. lemme google.
