If I remember correctly, Mossadegh (a previous Iranian president) was set up and kicked out of office... because he didnt want to monopolise the oil in his country. He wanted to offer it to anyone at a fair price, kicking BP etc out of the oilfields. America got majorly pissed off at this, and subsequently launced propaganda against him, claiming that he was behind attacks in the country. My mind is a little fuzzy at the moment, so some details may not be correct, but thats the general gist of it.
America then 'help' elect a new president... who grants them free access to the oilfields, but is a total extremist. Seems like Bush and Blairs only interest is in oil, no matter what the consequences

The fear is overplayed and the odds of anything happening aren't any higher now than they have always been, it's only that we know about it now. It's still safer to take an airplane or a train than it is to drive your own car to work, so just get over it.
No offense, but a lot of people are scared over a whole lot of nothing.
It's mainly a propaganda assault designed to get us to underwrite the lining of the pockets of Halliburton and related ilk.
I'll support the troops but that's different than supporting the government and the corporate media.
Yes, you might be killed by terrorists. It's more likely that you will be killed by a heart attack or lighning strike or car crash with a drunk driver. The fools are at the bottom of it all.

So many good posts in this thread its hard to pick one, so I'll just go for this.

Now this is all good if you can work and earn your way through life, but there will always be a populace that regardless of the opportunitys that life throws at them, their own misfortunes, or their own bone idleness, they will always be at the bottom rung of the ladder, what happens to these people is they die off because of privatization.
Labour is a party which has effectively bonded and formed from the working man (Labour) over the years, they speak from predominately the left wing. Some of there core fundamentals are that we should all be on the same level, much like communism (also a left wing trait) and that people who succeed and achieve and fly high above the average, should have to pay for that success, through restrictions like higher taxes, which will be used, in turn, to support the people with less. Labour really cares little, or has forgotten about, the middle class, and this is where the majority of the native British people fall, they have been completely forgotten about under a Labour government.
Under Labour, if you have something but your struggling, you recieve nothing, if you have nothing, you recieve big phat benefits, and as for the Upper Class, they make their own way.
.......... We now have a left wing party with right wing characteristics. A party that started out promising work, good living to the working class has now turned into some really really fucked up capatilistic regimentation.
Americans are infact the total opposite, they are predominately right wing, they fuck the poor in the ass, and the rich are idolised, relished, treated as a protected species.
Terrorism has nothing to do with religion. Religion is a tool. Terrorism would happen regardless of whether religion is in the equation, as to the extent... its hard to tell. Relgion is a catalyst, people can use its universally 'good' message to do very 'bad thing's, so you really have to ask yourself whether its religion that kills people or people that kill people.

Don't follow you..., green tax is just another stealth tax, although it helps the environment, how effective it is, is still questionable

I believe we need to stop or at least slow down immigration to the UK, we also need to get rid of the criminals from abroad the minute they finish their sentence.
The welfare and NHS systems (including housing) also need to be reformed so that abuses by foreigners or even our own countrymen are reduced or even elliminated.
