Water Softner; any drawbacks when growing?
In my new place there is a water softner, and then I have a PUR water purifier. My question is this: Will the softner make the water worse or better? I still am curing the water by letting it sit out for 24 hours. I have just started to germinate my 3 strains which are Bubblicious, Papaya, and a KB seed. Here is my sprout room I made myself. This will be my second indoor grow. I bought BC starter kit for nutes. My flower room isnt ready yet.
Any comments or remarks are welcome.:thumbsup:Weed4Life Reviewed by Weed4Life on . Water Softner; any drawbacks when growing? Water Softner; any drawbacks when growing?
A water softener only removes metals from the water.metals in water are what make for "hard water".As far as i know these metals are neither beneficial or bad for plants.my thinking on it is if it doesn't help it ,why have it in there? a water softener however will NOT remove chlorine from your water so i would highly reccomend letting it sit out for a bit before giving it to your plants.

Water Softner; any drawbacks when growing?
I would start using Cal Mag to make up for any lost minerals that were lost in the softening and purifying process.

Water Softner; any drawbacks when growing?
i herd it was bad to use softeners, something about the process. I would use an R/O on the rugular water.

Water Softner; any drawbacks when growing?
water softers use salt to soften the water.I would use distilled or R/O water
than theres no guess work and your plants will do just fine.

Water softeners use salt to reionize the polymer beads in the softening tank.the salts are for the most part removed by the softener before it goes back online after regenerating itself.little or no salt is therefore released into your household system and what little is can be eliminated completely by simply running a faucet inside the home for a few minutes before using the water for drinking or other purpose.

Water Softner; any drawbacks when growing?
Sorry to highjack. Same subject though. I was using my wellwater but its very hard and the plants haven't been flourishing. Am using rainwater now. Plants seem to like it. We'll see. I might have to repot cause drainage sucks and might be the problem. Tried drilling like 50 fuckin' holes but those fuckin' pots are still damp.

Thanks all. I am not planning on buying anymore nutes or anything so I will just let the water cure for 24hrs and add sum superthrive to it. My babbis just germinated so I gotta test the water, then the soil. I will post sum pics in about a week or so. Thank you all for your input.

Are you going to make a grow journal weed4life? I would love to see both the papaya and bubblicious. If the bubblicious grows well for you, I just might try to grow the same strains you are growing now for my next grow
