Cold Water Hot Water.
The temperature of matter is dependent on the amount of energy in it. When you heat matter you add energy, when you chill it energy is removed.
Energy causes the particles that make up matter to move faster. The speed the particles move at determines the state of matter.
If you chill water the cold particles move slowly and clump together to form a solid (ice).
At room temperature waters particles move faster but still stay together and form a liquid.
Heat up water a lot and the particles will really move fast and form a gas (water vapor).
Warm water is a better filter for tar and toxins because the faster the particles move the better chance they have of dislodging tar particles from smoke.moorephened Reviewed by moorephened on . Cold Water Hot Water. Why do people say that cold water will cool the smoke but hot water will better filter it? What makes hot water a better filter? What makes water a filter anyway? Rating: 5
