Mixing MH/HPS for veg stage?

Last grow I was using just a MH the entire time, this time around i've turned my 400watt MH into a light box, one side is 400watt MH the other side is 400watt HPS. I've heard of people using both for the flower stage, but what about the veg stage? Would it do any harm to the growing of the babys? Growing from seeds germinated if this helps any.

Yes you could mix the MH and HPS lights for the vegetative stage. If anything it would help.

What are you using to flower? Are you planning on using the combination lights for the entire process? What I know is that the MH blue spectrum is best for creating small internode spacing and this is what is desireable I assume. The only reson I think it would be better than 800 watts MH is saving dough on a new light fixture. If space isn't an issue then it seems like the thing to do...HIDs, burn em' if you got em'
