light in dark period
i know this is all bad, but my house mate keeps leaving the light on in the grow room (which is just my laundry loll) and as my setup is yet to be sealed my plants are recieving light in the dark period, only somtimes but i can tell its affecting the plants.
i have switched to 12/12 just 12 days ago
wat does this actualy do to the plants?
ive assumed it will try and send the plants back into veg and will sort of confuse the plants?
it seems to be taking them alot longer than last time to show hairs or any sign of sex
any advice would be great thanxmisk Reviewed by misk on . light in dark period i know this is all bad, but my house mate keeps leaving the light on in the grow room (which is just my laundry loll) and as my setup is yet to be sealed my plants are recieving light in the dark period, only somtimes but i can tell its affecting the plants. i have switched to 12/12 just 12 days ago wat does this actualy do to the plants? ive assumed it will try and send the plants back into veg and will sort of confuse the plants? it seems to be taking them alot longer than last time to Rating: 5

'stray' light is not as big a deal as some would have you believe ... according to a rather technical botany article, to affect marijuana, the plants would have to be subjected to light several times brighter than a full moon, and it would have to bathe the entire plant, stray light hitting just part of the plant will not affect changes ... this, according to a published study, and from my own experience ... a lot of the time, I leave my cabinet doors open, to keep temps down, I've never had any ill effects from it ... hope that helps ... as I've said many times before, regarding this question: " what ? .. your world doesn't have a moon and stars ? " ...

I have had that problem several times and in each case (and in the case of a friend of mine) all affected plants eventually hermied--two of them extremely close to harvest which bummed me out totally. Each time the amount of light was small (light thru a window and shadecloth one time) and happened more than once--like two times in a row or within a week of each other etc. I learned the hard way that keeping the light out during flowering was paramount (for me anyway) My hubby tends to forget to shut lights off so finally I took the light bulb out of the socket for the remainder of the grow. That solved the problem (tho we did end up with sore feet)

If your really troubled by it or would just rather have it not happen then purchase a few green lights. It is said that the plant uses every shade of the light spectrum except green, they reflect that back so those should work
