There are much more fun keys than Key West, Key West is too touristy, unless your going for the party. Halloween's fantasy fest is one of the best party's I have ever been too.

Big Pine, Marathon, and Ramrod are very very nice places. If you want to go fishing for cheap the Marathon Lady on the south side of the Vaca Cut Bridge right next to Captain Hook's is awesome and inexpensive. Captain Hook's is also a good place to hitch a ride on a diveboat.

The Tea Table bridge near Islamorada is another good place to fish, caught many a early morning tarpon there. You can also wade the flats near Bahia Honda and rent kayaks there too. Kayaks will be your best friend unless you have the money to rent a boat or take a guided charter.

I fished the florida key's a lot and did just as good as most just using my kayak, feet, and the bridge system. The best are Vaca Cut, Kemp, Shark Channel, Tea Table, and of course 7 mile and channel 2 and 5 bridges. Make sure you buy a tide chart because when fishing the bridges the tide is the most important thing, you want it moving and you wanna know which it is moving so it takes your bait's out instead of under the bridge. There is a fishing shop right off highway 1 on Big Pine Key and the owner is one of the best guys in the islands for fishing advice, he will tell you everything you need to know and hook you up no bullshit, I wish I rememberd the name but it is obvious when your driving by.

Your favorite thing to do will be to visit Robbies on Islamorada. This is the deal sealer for anyone I bring down there that doesn't quite "get it". Cool place, but the highlight of your trip will be feeding the tarpon out back, one of the coolest experiences ever.

My advice, don't stay in one place, the key's are not that big and you can do a lot in just one day. Try to visit all of them because each has it's own vibe, feel, and special attraction.

Cool bars are Square Grouper(A square grouper is a drug shipment because they wrap the drugs in a square and sink them to the bottom, or drop them out in the glades somewhere to be picked up later) on Marathon, Hogs Breathe in Key West, The Fish House at mm102 is authentic as you can get, Lorelei's mm82 and Papa Joe's mm80 are good places to watch the sunset and consume cocktails with some true conch's. Tickle Stick on Grassy Key was also fun.

Just go explore, it's hard to get that lost if you have a map, and there is never anything unexciting to look at or do.
