germinating by putting straight into soil?
No need for any light until they pop out of the soil. They should be in a warm spot though. If the CFL is for heating the soil, then yes it will help them. If you sowed them directly into the soil, they will be popping out soon. Seems like everytime people ask about them, they pop up shortly after. It's normal for them to take over a week with that method. Just try to keep them warm and moist.
