Hi Guys

I've first hand experience in encountering drug dogs in the UK, though (thankfully) they are still pretty rare.
But, I can vouch for there efficiency. I've seen them occasionally being run round the baggage carousel by handlers (mostly on flights returning from the 'dam), and witnessed 'collars being felt' as a result.

One kid had a baggie in his combats (perfect height for the dogs nose - what was he thinking?), another middle aged tourist had a some pre-rolled joints (in plastic tubes) wrapped in her clothes at the bottom of her suitcase (I watched her having to open it while waiting for my own bag), how the little 'mutt' smelled those is astonishing!

There's a 'fly-on-the-wall' TV series being shown here currently highlighting the 'British Transport Police' and it included scenes of drug dogs stopping people coming on and off the tube stations in London. Wow, that really put me off carrying in public, they were just busting people left, right and centre. He was getting them from 20 to 30 feet away just from sniffing the air.

My advice? Be careful, ideally airtight and vacuum sealed.
Good luck and stay safe.
