U.S. Says 'Keep Out of My Space'

Oct. 18, 2006 â?? The White House has quietly put out a new National Space Policy â?? a document that, among other things, makes it clear that the Bush administration will not sign any treaty that limits America's ability to put weapons in orbit.

The document, much of which is classified, also promotes the growth of private enterprise in space, and calls on NASA to continue its exploration missions, but those come after a call "to ensure that space capabilities are available in time to further U.S. national security, homeland security and foreign policy objectives."

"Freedom of action in space is as important to the United States as air power and sea power," the policy states.

I'll get blasted for this one but I think this is a great idea. Better this than to have some hostile gov. with a tactical advantage over us.

    Have a good one!

As I see it, defensive space weapons are unecessary and much too costly. Right now we're just starting to perfect lazer weapons that can destroy a tank or a missile from miles above. All they need to do is set up a grid of defensive lazer-turrets in key strategic areas on the North American continent, similar to the DEW line.
As long as our enemies don't get some Imperial Star Destroyers, we'll be just fine.
