Im not a bank damn it!

Ive been in the same boat. Lent over the course of a year $2000 to a close friend to help him with court costs etc... never seen a dime back.

Loaned $200 to a friend so he could stake himself with a poker tournament, i know for a fact he placed and took home like 6k, im STILL trying to get my money back.

Tell all the persons owing you money that they have exactly 2 weeks to render payment or you will take them to small claims court.(You can always try 1 of the on-air judges like Judge Judy, if you think you may lose.Cause on those shows, both the defendant AND the plaintiff get paid like 2grand apiece for letting them tape it.The judgement is taken from that persons fee for appearing. If they owe you 2 grand or more and you win,you could walk away with 4 grand and they walk with zero.

Either way,you let each deadbeat know that you will NEVER lend them a cent again and for them not to even ask.Personally I would totally disown them,I've done it on more than 1 occassion when someone stiffs me on a loan.Block their calls, refuse to answer the door if they come over, even call the cops on them if they keep pounding on the door instead of taking the hint and leaving.

This is how I look at lending money now.I don't look at it as a loan but rather as an investment in that person.Maybe it will pay off big in the long run or maybe the stock will end up in the toilet.
Either way,I have no expectation of getting my money back.If I profit from the transaction later like getting free weed or car repairs because I invested in them years ago, I'm ahead of the game.Kind of like throwing money away on lottery tickets. You really dont expect to get anything back for that worthless ticket, but hope you might get lucky and win the jackpot.

Lending money to family though - never done that, nor asked to borrow any. I'm sure I could if I had to, but...I'd rather just not get into that at all. I don't really like lending money to friends either, but at least now I know that CAN work out okay, although it might take a while before it does.

You have the best stories man. I seriously look forward to reading your posts when I see that green avatar show up on my screen...props to leading a cool life

as fro dro_princess...i know it sounds like it doesnt apply to the situation, but as shitty as you may feel now, just appreciate the air you're breathing and the food you're eating. you're living in one of the richest part of the world, and the way it feels like money is tight to you, is the way half the world would feel like millionaires if they were in your situation

Thanks for all the advice and a few laughs. I feel alot better now that I vented about it and the fact that I just picked up a half ounce helps a little too.

But I was gettin money is my birthday cards and my mom came up to me and said if I didnt give them my money we wouldnt have any dinner that night. On top of them owing money my credit is shot thanks to my parents puttin shit in my name when I was a kid and not paying it. This situation is so fucked up. I wish I wasnt so nice sometimes and could be a rude ass bitch like my sisters. What really kills me about my dad though is he use to be so Anti-drug and bust my chops about smoking and now he is buying weed for these kids.
I'm so sorry sweetie, that really sucks.
I guess your parents screwed up so badly that unless they used your name and info, you guys wouldn't have had light and stuff. Taking your birthday money is just horrible and mean. No matter what, you don't tell a child that without their birthday gift money, there'll be no food. That is plain wrong.
I can just imagine the hell you've been put through. I know you're not the first child that has been done to and somewhere out there is a way to remedy your credit situation.
Don't ever feel bad about not being a rude ass bitch. Them rude ass bitches are nasty and usually non productive members of society.
I dunno what to say about your dad. You and him need to have a long PRIVATE talk about stuff.
I wish you only the best princess.:upsidedow :sadcrying

I cant stand owing people money, makes me feel like a loser and the fact that people have been kind enough to lend me money they really dont have, I should have the respect to pay them back as soon as im in a positon to. A lil pressie to goes along way, for being so kind and patient with me! Hope you get things worked out Dro, come down on them like ton of bricks, tell them your up shit creek without a paddle and need the money to buy a paddle!

Hope things work out for you!

Buddy, you are a dear. It's a world of difference when a parent steals birthday money and when a fella is down for a spell. You seem like the kind of guy who if you only had $5.00 to pay at the moment, you'd pay up that 5.
It's not a bad thing to have to borrow a bit, I have before myself. It's the dignity of paying back and holding your head up.
