Start on assignments the day they are given. The kids in class thought I was kind of crazy when I started my term papers a couple of weeks into class. But when finals and term papers finally came around, they were going crazy, while I had my paper done and could concentrate on the finals. NEVER put off an assignment because you have X weeks to finish it! Get them done early! Then you have the luxury of putting the report down for a week and looking at it with fresh eyes (you catch a lot of mistakes that way). Hang in there, you can make it through this!
Storm Crow's got the right idea  I also graduated with honors, pretty much following the same process. You just got to find what works for you (and more importantly-what doesn't work) and stick with it.You'll get through it. Seeing as how you put off toking for the day, because you knew you had so much to do, it looks like your'e on the right track.

Now for the depressing thought of the day: It never gets easier. It may change, but 10-15 years from now your going to look back and realize just how easy high school was. If you plan on going to college you'll see those 2500 word essays become 50-100 page papers. You'll also have to read a several hundred pages a night. What's worse, in many classes the entire grade will be based on one paper and one test, so you absolutely can't fuck it up.

After college comes a career, maybe a wife and kids, bills, taxes, etc. Then you'll look back and see how easy college was. You see, the circumstances and specific tasks may change but (unless you win the lottery) you never get that gold pot at the end of the rainbow. They key is to simply remember that it's all part of life. It is inevitable and everyone goes through it. Don't focus on the bad things or you'll go crazy. Instead, always focus on what's good. There's a lot of good out there if you just look.
