And if I don't want to see what the Christians believe, I shouldn't go around them. Are you fucking kidding me? I'm in the US, and they're EVERYWHERE! You can't get away from them. They're morals, values and beliefs have been implemented into society as a whole. Whether it be at the workplace, grocery store, or even a school! You'll find collision when anyone hears the word "athiest", "Muslim", or "Pagan" come from anyones mouth. People are outcasted in this country, and most others, for the sole fact that they don't support christianity.
All religions have become implemented into a person's culture. In fact, that's what culture MEANS. Open your eyes, there's an entire world of people with crazy religions who force others to believe it. How about you and me take a trip to the middle east, so I can show you something called Islamic Fascism, where people are being FORCED to believe in a religion. Now, I don't know when the last time you were persecuted (and I mean REALLY persecuted, not being forced to look at the nativity scene) into believing a faith, but that is commonplace in certain parts of the world.

Almost all other major religions, barring buddhism, teaches you to spread the message, whether it be through ethnic cleansing, destroying the infidels, or, ya know, holding a haunted house. I don't think the christian faith says anything at all about looking down on others, at least I've never heard those words from a person in power from the religion. However, some other faiths say that if you don't believe than you are an enemy of the religion and must be executed, so even still.

Now, understand where I'm coming from. I'm not christian, and I personally think every religion is screwy. However, to think less of another person's belief system, or to even call it names is one of the most disrespectful and stupid things you can do. Yes, sometimes the people take it overboard, but that's not the religion's fault. I have NEVER been persecuted because I am not christian, and if you honestly have been then there are organizations that can help you. However, if this is all just smoking from your asshole, then I suggest you learn to hate people for the horrible people they are, not for the stupid beliefs they would die for.

bro, i'm a christian, and please ATTACK anything that blatantly stupid; not everyone who says they're a christian is acting like jesus (ummm.....mr president........ummm......TBN.....ummmmm the crusades.....umm....on and on and on i'm afraid); and what you just mentioned makes me want to go listen to heavy metal...............................uhhhh i mean "shoot myself"

    peace out

well all "major" holidays that is; REAL christian traditions like communion are not so; well i'm sure someone could draw a parallell with some pagan rituals....but i digress....

you're right on the money about todays "christian" holidays like christmas (which is one time of year that we practically KNOW is not when jesus was actually born) (the whole tree thing goes with the yule log, you burn the log and then in the morning there's a tree, it's some pagan god's "rebirth...), easter ("asch-tar" pagan godess of fertility (ever wonder why it's a bunny???? i.e. fertile) which got mixed with the celebration of jesus' resurection, and of course there are others that developed over time

if i remember right constantine did a lot of this making christianity as the world religion and COMBINING pagan rituals with christian to create a stable national religion (amalgamation)

....and on and on....but yeah these standard days that are celebrated as "christian" religions are pretty far from it these days.....a lot of christians will just celebrate them anyway without knowing what the symbols mean, trees, easter eggs and such........and i need to stop talking

No offense, but calling out all christians because of something like the crusades is like saying all white people must be gay and eat people because of dahmer. You're being just as closed-minded to christians as you accuse them of being, and that's just the truth. You attack christians for attacking subjects, what makes you so much more enlightened than them?

Just because someone believes different than you doesn't make them wrong, but treating their belief as wrong or inferior DEFINITELY makes you wrong. If you didn't want to see what christians believe, then you probably didn't have any business being in there. That's like going to church and getting pissed at the guy in the front talking about God for an hour. You had to see it coming.
i'm a bible believing christian, and i have to say i can definitely understand his anger; it really makes me furious what is done in the name of god or religion, or christianity

but yes, everyone is different. i'm not saying that SQ is right about his blanket statements, but i feel myself pissed off about the same things he's talking about...

    Hey wonderbear,

Yes, your traditions come from pagans

Not just holidays, look through the bible for any mention of a ??halo? hanging around people??s heads. That image actually came from the Egyptian sun God ??Ra.? You??ll see in older Christian art halos were less like rings and more like suns.

    There are other examples.

You are right that Constantine took steps to make Christianity palatable to the pagans he was going to impose it on.

This does not make Christianity a pagan holiday.

It simply reflects the time when Christianity came about. Similarly, because the Bible was first translated into English during feudal times God is referred to as ??Lord? and ??King of Kings.?

You should know your history and embrace it, celebrate these holidays and traditions. They are part of the culture now.

The whole Christian religion is just a pagan copy.

I'm all for religious tolerance (have the coexist sticker on my car, haha); however, I'm also all for religious EDUCATION.

    Be aware what you believe.
