Someone busted out the dictionary, I think I'll show it to you again.

d. any intense interest or preoccupation: She's been on a nostalgia trip all week.
e. a period of time, experience, or lifestyle: Those early years in college were a bad trip.

And obviously you do care, because in the beginning of the thread, two times you pointed out people's "MISUSE" of the word trip. You do care because you're still posting.

Words take on different meanings in different regions, and words can evolve due to slang. If I say something is cool, it doesn't necessarily mean that it was lacking heat temperature-wise. Here's the thing that'll blow your mind --- "Cool" only used to have one meaning, now it has more than one! OMG!

"Trip" at one point may have very well only been used to describe what can happen when taking psychadelics or hallucinagens, but it seems to me that quite a few people are using it simply to describe a strong (or insanely strong) high.

And if you want to mke your own language, go ahead, no one's stopping you from doing it, but no one will understand you, and most will probably think you're crazy.

Just to throw my 2 cents into the fray here... I've totally got your back frivolous.
I'll admit the misuse gets to me, but then I take a deep breath and realise that whenever I see it misused its by some ignorant kid who's smoking to get crunked, or hyphy, (or whatever the fuck term they want to use) and usually can't spell psychedelic, let alone smaller more common words.
They don't understand the difference because they've never experienced the difference.

I was talking to a guy 2 nights ago about this subject. He has done just about everything there is to do so I'm sure he knows what a 'trip' is. Anyhow, he told me once, after smoking a ungodly amount of bud, he went for a space trip on board the USS Enterprise.

My first thought was it was just a fucked up dream but he persisted it was a 'trip'.


I dunno. I think most people who use the word 'trip' in relation to using weed are just using its slang version VS its more 'accurate' drug definition. I mean, I think we can all agree that smoking bud is not is the same league as taking a hit of LSD. But who really cares? Just my two cents :twocents:

I disagree with the original post; I didn't get high the first time, the second time I was just tired and sick from it, now... it is like... the absolute highlight of my day. I don't do it too much though, I like to smoke like half a bowl at a time, and not every day.

People misuse words all the time and mispunctuate all the time. In fact, I bet a lot of you who are upset about high vs. tripping make grammatical mistakes yourselves.
