Well growing in soil can be more forgiving. If you were growing for your own good I'd really recommend doing an organic soil grow. Since you arent trying to produce bud for a vast amount of customers (I dont guess) theres no reason to invest all that money to grow hydroponically. And as for nutes anything with a high Nitrogen and Potassium percentage is good, and for flowering anything with a high Phosphorus and Potassium percentage is good. And you might need micronutrients as well. I hear Ca (Calcium) Mg (Magnesium) and S (Sulfur) are the most important of the micronutrient needs.
