Need help, concerning my parents

I will try to keep this as short as possible.

I smoke marijuana daily. I do not consider it to be a bad thing at all, but my parents are old fashioned and extremley anti-drug. I am 17, born and raised in Romania but now moved to Canada. The bad thing about Romania is that it's almost COMPLETLEY dry. Cops there take marijuana very seriously, and you are looking at jail time if caught (unless you can bribe them with a huge ammount of money to not take you in). My parent's opinion of weed is far from good, and refuse to accept ANY positive effects of this plant. They think it kills brain cells, you can overdose on it, etc... you can see where I'm going with this. My dad once told me that if he catches me doing marijuana again, he will make my life a living hell (I told him that I tried it once because I was way too drunk to control myself when he asked me about it, and from then on he kept lecturing me the whole way home- I just got back from a party). Not only do they completley reject drugs, but they are starting to go all religious and shit on me. They both know that I do not believe in a God, but they keep trying to spoon feed me their beliefs (not saying religion is bad in any way, I respect those who have a strong faith).

Now that I have given you a bit of background about myself, here's how things currently stand: I always talk freely about smoking pot around my parents, but they don't believe me (they think I'm too "smart to do such a stupid thing"). I tried to have a serious discussion on this subject, which obviously ended up in them yelling their lungs out at me. I was thinking of taking a jay upstairs and smoking it in front of them, but now that I thought about it that would be a poor choice (they are obviously too anti-drug and closed minded to believe I do it, which means they would FLIP out like usual- except worse). I think they would call the cops on me, and take my PC away, etc, if they do catch me.

Part of me wants to be caught, but the other part is scared SHITLESS, knowing my parents and how they would/could react. They will not accept any true facts about cannabis, no matter how much proof I present to them. I want them to find out so I do not have to hide a daily habbit from them when it's nothing bad. I just want to get this off my chest once and for all!

Please help me, I'm stumped and I don't know what to do.

well, in just one year you're in the clear, until then keep it under your hat, so to speak. it sucks but if they feel that strongly its hard to talk them out of their belief.

lay low. it sucks. believe me, i know. accept the fact that they are who they are and respect that. do what you have to, but don't bring trouble on yourself. if you know the situation is going to end in conflict, why do it?

My parents are like that. However I think theyve started to accept the fact that I'm not going to be the polo wearing urban professional they had thought I'd be.

If I was emo, i would cut myself right about now. From about 2 hours ago untill now, I was arguing with my parents because apparently my grades are low. Funny thing is, my dad came in, got in my face and asked me about drugs, I told him that i smoke pot (for the millionth time). He then walked over to my computer desk, and pretty much flipped it over - monitors and all. I payed 700 fucking dollars out of my own pocket for my dual LCD panels, and one of them is pretty fucked up now. The color hues are off, and I think the actual screen might be a bit cracked. If he wants to be an asshole I'll step aside and shut up, but I will never stop smokin weed! That, and my mom can say bye-bye to her laptop tomorrow.

Lay low, yeah. Some people are too close-minded to talk to about it rationally, and it sounds like your parents are a couple of such people. You're 17, and it won't be long until you're on your own, making your own decisions, living your own life, so grit your teeth and bear what you have to bear until you're out on your own. I don't think it's worth a major confrontation; just stay on the down-low while you're still living there.

I do think your dad owes you a new monitor though.

90% of the hemp clothing i own, including shoes, come from Romanian grown hemp. As for proving things to your parents? shoot, you'll be doing that till they die.

Bro my parents are the same way but i just kept on doing it secretly, getting caught every now and then and i talk about it in front of them all the time. I've found that I slowly molded them into a more soothed state about the whole idea. When I got caught the punishments were rough and they think ive stopped but i still tell them that i do it every now and again just to keep them on their toes. I'm almost 18 so I still have the rest of this school year before freedom just be a ninja when you smoke. thats my advice
