buying a BONG.. question

hey, ive been smoking for a little over a year and i've only used a bong about 5 different times, never mine. me and my friends are buying a bong(hopefully) on thurs. we are looking to spend anywhere from $40-70 (pref. around 50). im not sure how much the place im going to charges.. ive been in there, but to buy other things. is there anything i should really know before buying it? and its a disgrace i dont know more about bongs since i smoke pretty often haha. i just dont wanna look like an idiot when i buy it, you know. It all comes together obv right? like the bowl thats connected to like the chamber and all. do you think they will ask me any questions that i might not understand when im buying it lol. i hope they have a cool one, with like a z shape (ZONG hah).. my friend had one like that and it was sweet. how much is too much to spend? im not buying a huge one.. maybe 12-20 inches somethin like that. thats why i like the zong, bc its like a Z and its not too tall and easier to hide. any suggestions and help?! thanks

most of the time head/glass shops charge way too much. You're better off finding a street vendor or going online. But as long as you know what a slide and an o-ring are you should be fine.

dude dont make one you'll look like a polak. for that much money i'd get a little 11inch glass one, they shouldnt be more than 40$. or for like 50-60 you can get a pretty big bong. if your getting a bong you should get glass. screw the acrylic stuff, that looks like shit. if your gonna buy a bong you might aswell go all out.

and no im embaressed to say i dont! lol. im a blunt and bowl kind of person. can you explain the set up of a bong to me. i know the chamber and the bowl and how to light and smoke it lol. thats about it. i dont really know the parts. help haha.

and the thing is i cant buy one online bc i live at home w/ my mom and I wouldnt be able to order one and have it delivered.. plus i dont have a credit card yet lol (and im 19, so i better get one soon) :thumbsup:

Look for a bong with an ice catch. You can tell if your bong will have one if it has a pinch in the glass on the inside to keep ice out of the water.

Just don't make the mistake I made of getting one for 14$, anything that cheap is obviusly going to suck.

well, a slide is the glass tube with bowl attatched that you slide into that hole at the base and pull out to clear the chamber, and the o-ring is the rubber ring that keeps it airtight between the slide and the hole in the bong. An ice catch will either be little indents in the bong or a curve in the stem you put your mouth to. And like everybody else said, go with glass. And the live at home thing is sucks, you can usually pay with a money order instead of a credit card, but that doesnt do you much good.

Don't call it a bong when you go in there. Water pipe is the correct term, I believe. I never really call anything in head shops by names, I just point at the ones I want to look at.

Also, to make sure your slide is air tight, put it in and hold your hand on the top of the bowl and suck in. You shouldn't be able to suck in essentially. That means it's air tight.
