Throat pinching?

Ok, I was wondering after all the smoking have you ever just sat back and smoked one day and as the smoke went down it pinched your throat? It's not a chemical or failed to be flushed thing with my buds because I can feel the difference between the two. With poor flushing it actually pinches your throat and keeps bothering it until you just have to cough. With this it just seems like my throat is annoyed as the smoke goes down and it goes away. But I dont like that. Am I inhaling too big of hits or should I just give my self a well good break because of throat being bothered? I dunno what to do lol.
