they are not required to hire her back if she quit, if she took a maternity leave, thats a different matter and nochowder would be REQUIRED BY LAW to be informed that his job was temporary, it sounds like he wasnt informed. if she quit her job then she cant just be hired back. btw it sounds like your not going to take any legal sort of retaliation against them, which might be for the best, it could take time away from precious job searching and all. you should get a little revenge tho, just leave an unsigned not by the workplace for her to find, letting her know how she screwed you over and how you will hate her for the rest of your life, etc etc etc, the usual stuff
