Dude that sucks. That actually happened to someone at the restuarant i work in so I know exactly what you're talking about except they ended up working things out because the pregnant girl that was coming back decided she didnt want the job so the other guy ended up staying.

I just came back from there and neither owner was in! It is a small business, I mean, no more than 10 employess. There are 2 owners, parnters, and I mean, there is always one of them in. The guy leaves me message on my phone last night, tells me to come in and talk to him and get my pay, and at lunch time, the busiest time, neither one is there! Ha ha! Those fuckin pansies.

Anyways, one of the other cooks managed to get the guy on the phone to confirm him giving me my money.

I saw the girl who took back her old job and she wasn't a prego. I don't know the entire story as I've been there for such a short time, but all I know is that she left in June because the slut got knocked up. Maybe she miscarried. She looked rather surprised at what I was explaining to the cook, as she was right beside us, so I don't she even knows what happened.

I don't blame the ex-preg. lady at all. I blame the spineless owners who can't even give me an explanation as to what is really going on. The bad thing is, neither was there for me to tell off. I had a good speech going and everything. :dance:

dude that fuckin sucks, threaten to take them to court, they didn't mention anything about that woman bein on maternity leave, and if she was then they were obligated by law to tell you that your job was only temporary, so either take em to court, or just threaten to, they will back down!

This thought did run through my mind, but, they weren't even there, so I couldn't even tell them off, also, nothing was ever in writing, so that will make things hard in a court situation, but it was agreed on by a handshake.

i think it's bullshit, and i woulda told my boss that, and just like that. see from what i read, it makes it sound like she quit, and now she wants to come back, it'd be one thing if she took a leave of absense, then wanted her job back, hell they even have to give it back in some states or they can catch shit, but to me it sounds like she quit. which is why this is bullshit in my opinion, you shouldn't have been given the oppurtunity to be pushed outta your job and take another one, she should have been given the oppurtunity to take that job [the one you were offered] or go find somewhere else.

i'd take this to court, because to me it 'seems' like the manager knows the girl, maybe even friends or fucking her, and pushed you out of a job just to give it to her, which i do believe is illegal. i know you're probably not going to do it, because to you it seems like 'just a job' but i'd def. call up a lawyer and find out what can be done...

but then again, maybe jobs aren't that hard to find there, but here we have hundreds of thousands of illegals and a big ass chunk of katrina evacuee's taking all the jobs up, it's damn hard to find a job here no matter how qualified you are...
