came home from class today, and saw my mom sitting on the couch. she then asked me to have a one on one talk. i was like oh jesus christ did she find my bong? next thing you know she brings out my bong from the counter with my bag of weed. i hardly had any weed in there, only a bit of a nug left. i was very surprised though that my mom knew what a bong was and what marijuana was. my parents are first generation so i didnt think they really knew what a bong looked like. even though, i did keep it in a hiding place but my mom somehow found it. i told her i was holding it for a friend. she seemed really heartbroken and saddened about this. so i had to lie to her. i lied about me never trying weed before. i lied about holding the bong when it was actually mine. i had to lie, it was really for her own good. i dont think i could ever tell her that and manage to see her so worried and painfully hurt by me. and she believed me. but she still threw away my bong.

but this was a big wake up call for me. yes i do believe marijuana is harmless but this society looks so down upon marijuana i dont think i want to do it anymore. its not worth hurting your parents trust or anyone else that matters to you the most. lets face it, we can try to convice everyone we know that marijuana is not a bad thing. but until the government legalizes it, marijuana will still be looked as a dangerous drug.

I don't really know your mom, but mabye it wouldn't be so bad if you just told you that you tried experimenting. If I were a parent I'd probably be more heartbroken from my kid doing drugs behind my back and then lying to me than my kid that made a mistake, but atleast told the truth. I would go to your mom and just tell her everything and mabye try to disprove the flaws in marijuana that she probably sees. If you can't convince her that it's not as bad as she makes it out to be then mabye just try to compromise with her. If you're quitting then you might aswell just come clean and tell her you just wanted to experiment and now you're done with it.

The dissapointment hurts deep inside.
But you shouldn't have lied. You are your own person, you know the truth about cannabis, and you're living your own life, no matter what other people think.
I'd try talking to your mother. Ask her what she finds so bad about marijuana. Find out what her veiws are, and then show her erowid, norml, and a few other sites people here can show you. Eventually, she might come around, but no matter what, the fact of the matter is, You did own that bong. You did smoke marijuana. It was a choice you made and your parents should accept that. You should also accept it. Don't be ashamed of something just because blinded idiots think it's bad.
