You're not starting out the traditional way. Most switch to 12/12 after 4-8 weeks (alternating nodes) and most don't start feeding until the plant is 3 weeks old. Good Luck imp:

To start, most people usually go with 18/6 for veg. Then when they want to force flowering, they switch to 12/12. I don't want to discourage you, but you sound like you're not really ready to grow.

Some people start 12/12 right from the start, so you can do that. But if you want, you can put them in 18/6 until they grow up a little and then back to 12/12 to force them to flower and show sex. I'm assuming that your plants are still too small and have not shown sex. Let us know if this is not the case. I don't know if you know it or not, but you only want to grow females, cause males don't have any buds and don't even get you high.

i know what i am doing i know all about the male and female i have read so much about growing i just aint professional all the sites i have read dont say at the beginning of your grow set the light hours at so and so, i have read 12/12 14/10 and 16/8 but that was just for how fast it you want it to grow. i know alot about what to do when its in its older stages but not its young, i was just asking questions. i hear if you give it one hour of light in the the dark hours its more likely to get female is this true?

I think I'm going to pass out.

Bro, you're way off. I don't think you've read all that much before doing this because there is A LOT of places that explain clearly about the difference in photoperiods when vegging as opposed to flowering. Most people agree on 18/6 for veg and 12/12 to flower. There is also a LARGE number of places I could quote that say "absolutely NO light contamination during dark phase" and that doing that would not only NOT produce more females, but would produce more hermaphrodite plants (hermies - plants with both male and female characteristics that self-pollinate and therefore produce seeds).

We are not trying to bash you here at all, we are just saying that it would be very helpful for you to spend a little time in the FAQ section and the Basic growing section, or even the Indoor growing section. But just read a bunch before you go posting some information that might confuse someone else searching for good info.

    Good luck man!

However, since you have a plant growing already...here's what I'd do to salvage it:

Get some CFLs (Compact Flourescent Lights) and put them close (only inches away) to your plant(s). Then set a timer to light the plant 18 hours on and 6 hours off. Then leave it like that for several weeks while you read up. If you are in soil, you should be ok to just leave it alone for a little.

    Does that help?

Oh, and by the way, none of us are professionals either.

    No, problem, bud.

Here's a pic I downloaded off the web of a nice budding female. I sure wish I had a plant to look at.
