I think your friend may have exaggerated a lil. People like to make certain things seem easier than they are sometimes. They might have heard of cloning, and how you cut off a branch and plant that, and thought "hmm, i guess you can just plant a leaf then".

So yeah, you can't plant a LEAF. You can clone a cutting though.

Omfg, lol why do you think I'm so affiliated with mexicans? I dont smoke pcp laced weed and I dont hang around with the vatos lol. Although this weed did leave me with questions. I was fuckin gone. Last time I got this high was when I had a low tolerance and smoked way too much. I only smoked about | | that much of a blunt and I was fuckin blown, like I would usually get off of about 3 blunts :-/. I'm still fuckin high off of that shit and this was like what...3 hours ago . It's still fully effecting me, no break for my beating heart .

If we were talking African violets, I'd say yeah, it can be done. They are an exception, and I highly doubt that you could sucessfully clone from a mj leaf, unless you had some expensive equipment or a lot of luck. (Orchid growers sometimes do tissue cloning- but that's more trouble than it's worth.) Just run a search here on cloning and you'll get the info you should have, and not just street rumors.

I havnt read the whole thing, but if your going to clone, the most important thing is make sure you cloning a female, not a male. Females are the sex that produces bud, males are useless, unless you want seeds. You can make hash form males, but you get so little theres no real point to it.
