Yes, skunk is a strain, but in the UK skunk is also used as a slang term for high quality, and most of the stuff in the UK is high quality.

It's only like the American's saying dro... we all know it means hydroponic but they also use it as slang for good weed.

I tend to agree with ukmonkey, his guide for prices of good quality weed in the U.K, at the present moment of:

An 1/8th is £20, as a general rule, so to speak.
A 1/4 is from £35 to £40 depending on quality mainly.
A 1/2oz at about £65 to £75 depending on quality again.

This is only a general idea for you to get a rough pricing structure for U.K prices, but if the drought is on then people charge what they can and the majority of people will pay it, if thats all there is. Also, there is the obvious and infamous soapbar which at the momen tends to be priced at around £10 for a 1/4, £20 for a 1/2, £40 for an Ounce and £200 to £220 for a stamped 9 bar. Once again, this is only a generalization of the prices in the UK at the moment from my own experiances. I hope this has been of some help my fellow toker, peace out Cannabis.com Crew.
