Each antibiotic contains a certain chemical designed to destroy certain types of bacteria (cocci, gram positive, anaerobic, ect). The reason different types of antibiotics change frequently is due to bacteria morphing their features, thus producing strains of bacteria which no longer respond to certain antibiotics due to a gene mutation from chronic exposure.
