Geez, this is turning heavy. Regarding LEO - any of you guys heard of 'Echelon'? It's a massive electronic eaves-dropping program that's been around for a while (like years and years) and is not restricted to the US. It is used primarily for defence and business communications but with the US government pumping more and more bucks into electronic surveillence who knows what they do now.

If you wanna stay safe on the web either use >256bit encryption, use one of the anonymous IP address services or simply don't post anything that can be used against you (e.g. "a friend of mine who grows...").

You should assume that you can be traced. And as someone pointed out, they are not interested in small fry (yet). I do wonder what all those FEMA camps will be used for, they can hold many thousands of people - maybe one day there will be a huge roundup of pot growers

If i were you, i'd start a small grow first. In the meantime get friendly w/ the local guys. For a while.

And btw, 2000g = 4.5lb roughly.. no way someone is paying 16,000 for that. Most dealers would probably pay you 8-10k tops.

Oh, I dunno about that. Guess it depends on your area. I get $200/ounce for good stuff, when I let a dealer friend have any, and he always wants as much as I will let him get at that price. No discounts for quantity, and he's cool with that too. In fact, I offered it to him at $150/ounce and he wouldn't do it, he insisted on $200, thought that was more fair to me. Sooo....$3200 per pound x 4.5 = $14,400, pretty close. I doubt my friend would be able to get it all at once, if I ever had that much (which I probably never will), but he'd get it all eventually, at a pound a week or whatever. Last time I dropped off a QP for him, he had it all sold within two hours.

Hey futuregrower, here's my advice:

Step 1: Take that money and save/invest it.

Step 2: Get good grades, get an awesome job that pays good $ after college, and make sure that whatever field you're in is PORTABLE. So what I mean is, you don't get stuck having to live in a city to make your money. So think about acedemia, since jobs at universities pay decent with fantastic benefits, and SO MANY big schools are in agricultural areas... see where I'm going with this? Your job is your legitimacy. If you make a lot of money, the IRS will think you just have that good job and know how to be frugal to afford that $300,000 mortgage.

Step 3: By the time you're out of school and in the workforce, that $30,000 becomes the down payment on your dream house. Get a realtor and start looking for a place that's PRIVATE, has a GARAGE, and a DRY BASEMENT!!!!! Alternative energy like solar panels wouln't hurt either.

Step 4: Start small. Grow your little garden slowly into a bigger garden, sell half-ounces to your close friends for cheap, and WAIT. Eventually smoething will fall into your lap. Seriously.

This is EXACTLY what I did. And it only took about a year and a half for that 'something' to show itself! I met my most important connection on a kayaking trip!

Hint: Yuppies have lots of cash and enjoy the finer things in life... ski resorts, canoe races, mountain bike events, microbrew festivals... just get involved in that whole adult-professional-outdoor activity crowd.

Hint #2: Those people are probably NOT going to rob you!

Thanks for the advice stinky, that's pretty much my plan. I won't have the buying power right away because I'm relocating to miami suburbs after grad school, where houses are very unreasonably priced. It looks like for the first year i'd have to do stealth in a small condo while concentrating on my career.
