i just moved into a new house and want to set up a small growing area. the problem is all the space i really have is a large cabinet against a wall.

ca law allows medical patients to have 18 plants, 6 of which can be mature, at any given time. so, i'm planning on doing these guys in batches of 6, always have one batch flowering, one in late veg/sexing, and one new clones, and moving them through the system in a cycle, so i am regularly harvesting.

attached is a diagram of how i intend to set it up. each cabinet is 4' wide.

i have a cold room and i'll be using compact fluorescent lights, so i wont be getting much heat to the plants. so, in the bottom right storage/intake area there will be a small space heater with a thermostat. that will maintain the small area directly below the air intake at 80-90 degrees. this way the plants will get blasted with warm air and can maintain a decent temp. amirite?

warm air will be routed from this heating area in two directions. one, to the flowering section and then straight out. this way flowering plants get fresh air. also, from the same heated intake area, warm air will be routed to the young vegetative plants, then to the very young, just cloned vegetative plants.

would it be wiser to switch the young plants and the very young plants, putting the taller ones on top rather than on the bottom? i dont know, i figured the taller plants would benefit more from newer warmer air.

the fans i'll be using are 40cfm computer fans with vents. i'll use them in pairs at each intake/exhaust point to get 80cfm of airflow, not a lot, but hopefully enough if they're run most of the day on a timer.

as for lighting. i was going to put 4 65w compact fluorescent bulbs, for a total of 16,400 lumens over 8ft2 in each of the three chambers.

i've never grown before, but have been thinking about this and reading up for awhile. how does this set up look? what areas will i have problems with? am i doing anything that i shouldn't? am i an idiot?

thanks guys!
