RonJohn, a comment like you just made about Chester did indeed get another person banned tonight. You are just as guilty of saying really deeply rude things yourself. Just look at what you just wrote. You and Bong may disagree and get heated at times, but nobody, including Bong, is deserving of a comment like that. He's a father of small kids, and he's a very responsible, caring one.

Being a "good parent"* does not make one less deserving of rude comments or insults- nor does being childfree make one more deserving of being abused or slighted. The idea of special considerations for the feelings of parents has been expressed here before, and I've brought it up and written similar responses. Otherwise, I agree with you.

Hey, BA. I think you might have been interpreting what I said through a slightly defensive childless-person's "filter" when you read my last comment. I was particularly referring to RonJohn's Chester the Molestor comment, which was uncalled for and untrue. Regarding any other special treatment of Bong, I wouldn't necessarily point to his being a parent vs. not being so. I know he's an adult and very capable of defending himself. But to call someone a pedophile, even in a veiled, silly way, is tantamount--worse, really--to calling him a narc. We don't allow that on these boards, and we shouldn't allow an aspersion like this. At least it wasn't allowed in an earlier incident.

As far as Bong's being a good parent, partially my assessment is from having read information about his home, kids and marriage in numerous previous threads. From having seen him, on many occasions, take gentle "teaching moments" with young people on these boards and give them adivce and counsel, which has always been very level-headed. And from an uncanny intuition I've developed over the years, either from having taught school and seen the ways of abusive parents, from having been a reporter, or from (this seems most likely) having volunteered for years in a women's/children's shelter and recognizing the difference between a husband/father who can at times be a blowhard versus one who's an abuser. I may not be able to prove these things here, but I feel certain if we all visited Bong's home, we'd see two happy, well-adjusted kids. I oppose anyone's being characterized as a molestor or a pedophile without some proof, and RonJohn simply wanted to insult. He could have done that in other ways.
