Outdoor spots
I'm planning on growing outdoors next spring here in OH, and I was wondering what would be good places to plant at. I was thinking of growing in a forest in a spot that I know would be good, and I was also thinking that I could use some of the fields in my area that used to be used for farming, but for the past couple years they've gone unused. The forest spot I found is about 50 yards from the trail that goes through it, and I know that a good amount of light shines there.
Just wondering what other growers think if these are good spots or bad spots. This will be my first outdoor grow, I grew with my friend's uncle a couple years ago so I'm not entirely new..Kon.Artist. most of all you'll need a constant supply of water. 2nd, you need a place no one else goes to...iow, if it was easy for you to find it'll be easier for others. the rest will take care of itself...

A good place is the hedgerows between fields.
There's always lots of dense brush and brambles, and you can hide your plants while still giving them light.
Another favorite is under power lines and along RR tracks.
I think it is better to grow on public or utility land so as not to put the landowner in danger.

i grow on river banks and lakesides where the sand is really fine, also, if its in a place on the other side of the river, and you gotta get wet to get there, it helps discourage people, and animals. another good idea is to use nettles and brambles to surround it, so if they want your plants they gotta pay the price

Yup, that's exactly why I bought a kayak this spring. I have an island in the middle of a swamp scoped out for next year, and it's inaccessible except by paddling up one of those little ditches that beavers make. You can't even get a canoe in there it's so tight. And if you tried to walk in wearing waders you'd get stuck in the mud and NEVER be able to extricate yourself.

had a friend growing on an island- some canoest found crop and had a confrontation with grower- an altercation broke out and grower was hit in head with canoe paddle- grower was killed on the spot - this happened in Bowling Green Ky in the early 80's

Clovisman, that's a horrible story. I'm sorry about your friend.
This is just one more reason that growing should be perfectly legal and we can all know that we are safe.
