the number of plants don't affect the lamps output, "one plant per square foot" for conventional growing, that's all I can tell ya ... you need to use 4-6 tubes for any decent results at all ... I know, because I started with four tubes about 40 years ago, and worked my way up to twelve 40-watters (35,000 lumens), before finally going for the High-pressure sodium lamps (which I recommend) ... just no decent results until I got to 6 tubes ...
I won't comment on pot sizes, etc., because I know zero about hydroponics growing ... I'm just an old dirt farmer ... as to SCROG, some plants are much better with that, than others ... your Northern Lights idea was the only one I would recommend ... it is easy for a beginner, and supposedly SCROGS well, too ... I don't know much about the other two seedstrains, in regard to difficulty, or "SCROGability" .. a new word ... for a beginner, I would say to forget the SCROG idea for now, you will have enough to worry about ... plus, READ !! ... these grow forums have hundreds of answers for your questions ... take advantage of it, flip back through old pages, enjoy ... :smokin:
