Bodies lying in the streets
There are tons of homeless people in the city.
Some of them are just wanderers. I met this guy that just wandered the city with his three dogs and his cart filled of stuff, just picking through the trash for food for him and his dogs to get by.

Lol, New York has been one of the places that I have always wanted to go but over the years I rather stay away
. I seen some one layed out in front of a corner store once but he was a bum drunk, thats about it though.

Bodies lying in the streets
I was in NYC for New Years Eve '98. Me and a friend fried on some shrooms and saw the Phish show (and the previous three days of shows too). After the show, we left Madison Square Garden and our hotel was only like two miles away so we decided to just walk there from MSG.
It was like 1:00 AM or 1:30 AM when we set out for the hotel. The first thing we noticed was, the whole city looked like the almost-deserted aftermath of a gigantic party (which is what it was, I guess). Just trash and party streamers and stuff everywhere, but very little traffic or people. Of the people that WERE around, about two thirds of them were people just passed out on the street, drunk bums, that kinda stuff. There were also some...scary-looking groups of people. We got paranoid seeing the scary folks, so when we saw this group of like 20 uniformed cops walking the same way we were, we walked faster to catch up to them, and just kinda followed in their wake. That was pretty bizarre, considering we were flying on shrooms and stoned out of our minds, walking with and BSing with a gang of cops, who were really cool and thought it was funny that we were latched onto them for safety.
In fact, for all the bad press NYC gets in regards to the rudeness of the people there, that wasn't our experience AT ALL. Everyone was super nice and helpful, especially the cops (not just those cops either, all of them). I still wouldn't want to live there (the traffic is just crazy, and that many people packed that close together makes me claustrophobic). But it seemed like a great place to visit!

When cops arnt constantly trying to nick you for every little thing they can think of its good, and some of them have some good jokes. Although i never meet nice coppers

New York City is the safest city in the United States, even with a population of over 8 million people.
