ehh thats wear my shyness factor comes in. It would take me weeks to sum up the courage to approach a guy who "looks" like a stoner and ask him for some weed. Theres this one guy in one of my classes who i heard talking about weed so i might ask him, but he doesnt know me very well so he might not sell to me

mate take it as a learning curve. You'r new to the place, use it as away to meet new people. I wouldn't advise you to go tapping some goth on the shoulder and going excuse me you look like a pothead care to sell me some draw... Look for the people that might do it but may also be the sort of people you could get to know. Get talking and drop it into conversation that you blaze and maybe that you miss it talk about how you don't have any friends in the area, let alone hook-ups. Trust me before long people won't be selling you weed they'll give it to you and you'll be making friends at the same time.
