outdoor to indoor hawaiian seeds ???

.... a friend of mine has a brother who has lived in hawaii for 30-some yrs. when he came to visit, he gave me a bottle of seeds. he is a gorilla pharmer, and my question is ..... can you use outdoor seeds indoors? it seems from what i have read, you can. common sense tells me that that is where the indoor seed was generated/originated anyway .... but the brother, for some reason, seems to think it may not be comparable to outdoor (quality, etc) and strongly suggested it be done outdoors. he also gave me an outdoor recipe, however, i don't pharm outdoors. does anyone have info on this? I know it may seem elementary to most of you, but I would really appreciate some suggestions. thanks in advance, you have ALL been so helpful :thumbsup:

generally, a seedbank's 'indoor' or 'outdoor' category, is indicated because of the mature size of the plant ... strains that require a lot of height, are generally considered 'outdoor' for obvious reasons ... and some strains are so highly bred, that they require constant maintenance, an abnormally long flowering period, or special treatment, are considered 'indoor' ... technically, virtually anything grown outdoors, will also grow indoors, it's mostly a size restriction issue ... :smokin:

there is some evidence that strains grown for generations indoors, (having a constant, mild climate, etc.), don't do as well when switched outdoors ... just as seedlings can't take the bright intensity of full sun, when started under lights, they need to be 'eased' into it ... hope that helps ... :smokin:

again, thanks for the help. you are a wealth of information. i really want to try these seeds just to see what happens. can't help myself... lol .... but that old adage keeps runnin thru my brain "curiosity killed the cat." its been a long time since i started anything from seed .... back in the days of "lids" for me. things have sure changed
