Cup your hands and sitck it through your hands, those are small pipes and you risk burning any hair on your face if you dont use the hand technique.

You've got it right.

I'm pretty sure it's like the old rasta ceremonial way to do it, you don't ever touch the pipe with your lips, you cup your hands with the chillum stickin straight up, and then suck through your hands. I've never tried it myself, just seen other people do it and it's been in some books I've read.
