Soil As Hard As a Brick
Hi Everyone
Im on my first grow
I overwatered the soil in the pots before i put the seeds in and it dried rock hard
under the surface
The plants are actually doing ok(about 3 weeks old),but im a bit worried about when they start to grow a bigger root system.
My question is,will this be a problem ,and when is the best time to repot
(Im growing white widow and skunk, under c,f,l)

if your plants are still young just get all the soil wet, break it up carefully, wash most of the dirt off the roots and repot it in compost, if you havent got compost just add sand to your soil, and use something like a colender to make it finer, hope u sort it, - good luck

Hi Kully
If your soil is hard carefully remove the plant and root ball, take the hard soil and mix 1 part peat moss 1part perlite and 1part sand and 1part with your hard soil together.Mix it together well and repot your plants.
Dont use potting soil that has time release ferts in it the mix. This will mess up your plants when you start the nurts feeding.Another thing WHAT'S the PH of your water? If you can use distilled water.Wal-mart distilled water is about $0.64 a gal. and the PH is a 6.0.Water is very cheap and 3 gals will water your plants for around 2 weeks or so.How tall are your babys? After repotting them just a lite watering {dampin the soil}untill they bounce back and start growing. Then you can water, dry, water, dry water, dry, feed them.Water 3x and then give them some ferts to eat.I hope this helps you and let me know how things are going with your babys.

DON'T use distilled water, it has zero minerals that are necessary, like calcium, etc .... instead, buy the WalMart 'Drinking Water' ... it is reverse-osmosis water with some traces of minerals left in it ... :smokin:

You can always just take a chopstick and poke a bunch of holes in the soil before you water again, and use better soil on the repot. I personally wouldn't risk trying to wash the roots at this point.

if you go the route of distilled water you need to buy cal-mag plus it replaces all the lost minerals the plant needs i use distilled water only with cal-mag plus
