Hi, I have been a medical marijuana user for some years now and I am trying to grow for myself because one I enjoy it, and two, because of the price of buying it all the time. I have a 4 1/2 X 2 closet that I would to like to run using the SOG method using clones from the club. I just want to grow 6 clones in SOG so I stay within the legal limits but still have enough for me to last until the next harvest and I was wondering if there is anything I need to run this system. My materials I currently own are as follows:

400watt HPS w/reflective shield
6" containers
More than enough hydroton
3 inch grodan rockwool cubes
drip system with hosing and 291 gph pump
10" oscilating fan
Dyna-Gro Grow and Bloom nutrients
Superthrive
Cloonex rooting solution
1 digital timer for water pump
2 standard timers for light and fan
PH Up & Down
10 gallon resevoir
4X2 plant tray with drainage back to resevoir

Do I need exhaust and intake fans as well as my oscilating fan?
Any suggestions to improve my grow area while still staying low cost would be awesome.

yeah you will need to extract the heat somewhere or it will acumalate, the oscilating fan only moves the available air, and does not cool the room at all, just freshens it!
with a four hundred watt lamp i use an extractor of 450 meters cubic per hour fitted to a cool tube!
i dont need to pump air in, as i extract a vacume is cuased drawing in the equall amount of air to where i want it!
if you seal your tent or grow room it will suck in a vacume! if you install vents where you want them or even pipes down the wall with holes in and the end sealed, it will "blow air" on the plants without any mechanical device! moving the plants and all! saves money! on needless extractors, however the room must be airtight or near enough!
apart from that i think ya have it all, except that in a neter square in SOG i use 36 plants not 6,
you would be better to grow your plants a little bigger and nip out the tips to encourage side limbs, and maximise your crop!
SOG works on large numbers of ;plants in a small area, not grown more than 12 inches high b4 flowering and maintained on one stem!

Hey, thanks misty for responding to my problem. I am going to buy the fan and the cool tube that you suggested. I also wanted to know, is it crucial to have mylar on my walls or have them freshly painted? Or can I live with the flat white paint already in the closet? Also since I am going to only have six plants developed from clones how long and often do I run my drip system? I have seen several suggestions, however the last time I grew I only fed them 5 times a day for 3 minutes. That seems very little compared to people that run it for 15 minutes every hour or even 24/7!

flat white will work but mylar is sooooooooooooo much better, yes its a bitch to hang and clean but the amout it will reflect is WORTH IT

Well you have been offered some very good advice so far. Your hood should be air-cooled with a glass bottom. The fan at the top pointing down will force hot air down on top of your plants and they will not like that.

Try to get your tray as low as possible like take out one brick and use a 2x4 or try laying them on their side but get it as close to the holding tank as you can so you can have max head room. You will want some pond liner or something to cover the exposed area in the tray. Alga will grow in no time with out covering the area. Light will kill your roots too that will hang out the grow cups you are using.

With large Rockwool like that you may want to start with a feeding schedule and not have a full on drip. Like start with 15 on every 30 to 45 min to start but it may need to change as the plant grows. And it will change with lights on and lights off too. Lights off you can water 15 on every 90 min or so and be fine. As they grow that may need to change too so keep an eye on them they will tell you how you are doing.

The white is fine but Mylar is always better.

You need to have a fan lower to move the air around from the underside of the plant. A small desk fan from Wal-Mart is fine it does not need to oscillate bouncing off the wall is enough.

You may want to think of a screen too just in case.

You may need to have bushmaster in your list of additives just in case too. That will keep them from growing to big.

If you can get some real nutrients and a ph/tds pen you are better off. You need to monitor your ph twice a day at least and change out your nutrients every 7 to 10 dayâ??s and use only RO water with calmag plus and good quality nutrients they will grow big and fast.

Last there is an FAQ you should look at. I think everyone who grows in contained areas need to keep a close eye on the temperature under the light and at the top of the plant canopy at all times.

Thank you very much to the both of you for helping me set up a solid and productive grow system. I have bought mylar, a ppm reader, GH nutrients, an exaust fan, a small desk fan, and a cool tube. I have not had the time to set it all up yet, however I will as soon as I can. I will keep you updated.
