Ever been burgled?
I had a crappy incident that happened about 6 years ago. I was home sleeping and it was about seven thirty in the morning. My wife went to work and my daugter which was six months old at the time was in her crib sleeping. I awoke to the sound of the door bell. When I staggered to the door all hung over from the previous night (was Saturday morning) I saw a man at the door. He was about six foot four and I didn't recognize him from his sillouett through the glass pain that runs parallel to the door. I stupidly opened the door since I was still half alseep thinking it was a sales man or something else of that nature.
As soon as I opened the door the man pushed his way inside the house and immediately told me it was a robbery! He was carrying a huge eight inch knife and my first reaction was to grab it out of his hands, but before I acted on impulse I remembered my daugther sleeping in her crib and thought it would be safer to play it out for my daughter and my own safety.
I asked him what he wanted and he sayed all of my money. I repeatedly told him there was nothing here but he insisted on me wearing hand cuffs. I agreed to put them on as the knife to my throat was a big deciding factor. He placed them on me but not in the usual style the cops do. He put them on with my hands in front of me which I remember being very happy about at the time. Then he continued demanding money and pulling me around the house. He continued to punch me and yell for the money he was tipped off that I had.
I remember everytime he hit me I saw a huge flash of white light like someone was taking my picture in the dark. I eventually could hardly see through my left eye and I still remember seeing everything in red for a while as blood teared into my eyes. When he started to threaten me with the knife again and tried to place it to my throat I decided I've had enough. I started to fight back as I figured I was going to be hurt even worse if I didn't. The good thing was I knew there was no money in the house as I removed it the night before, but there was weed.
I kept picturing my daugter in her crib and the thought of protecting her from him going in that room put me in a rage. In the fight he tried to stab me in the chest but I put my chained hands up to protect myself and the knife ending up sticking into my left hand and cutting open the web of skin that sits between your thumb and index finger. Somehow in the struggle my hand cuffs broke loose! I don't believe they were cop quality cuffs but probably just the cheap metal ones from a novelty store. When that happened I really started to fight him as my both hands were free! I am still amazed to this day that I got no further cuts.
He decided it was not going as planned and ran out the door. As soon as he was out I locked the door behind him and ran into my daugters room to check on her. She was still fast a sleep in her bed. I believe the reason I didn't get to badly hurt with the exception of a sliced hand, two black eyes and a bleeding nose was the fact that he was not there to kill me. He just wanted the money and when he saw it was not going as planned he took off. I like to believe it was because I was fighting him but sadly that probably is not the case. I am a big guy too, but when someone has the upper hand with a razor sharp knife you most likely are going to be the one to get hurt. I didn't get any more cuts so that verifies my conclusion in my mind. In any case, I did not call the cops as I did have three pounds of pot in my freezer. I am proud to say that I never offered him the three pounds - I didn't want him to get anything and he didn't.
So I believe the moral of the story is - be safe. You never know when a friend is going to say too much, so keep your mouth closed and you probably won't have to go through a bad experience like I have. They say if it doesn't kill you it will just make you stronger - and that is the case for me. I was lucky, it might have turned out a whole lot worse. I like to think of myself as a fairly tuff guy, but this episode really screwed me up for a few months. Life always seems so much less safe after something like this happens. My personality and way of thinking about other people has changed from one terrible incident, but I think for the better.

m1911 for me. Im no criminal, and i dont break the law with it, but like we've all said, you GOTTA be safe in your own home. Luckily i've never been broken into, but if they did and i was in i'd probably kill them. Tbh, i seriously dont know if i'd even feel guilty. It'd be there own fault so why should i?
dont know if i'd go that far though, no one can say what they'd do untill it happens, but if they carried on and i thnk i'd open fire, maybe to just scare them...
Either way, gotta stay safe.
Fucking dicks.
