about to start my grow, 2 simple q's

hey guys, I just finished building my cabinet and am waiting for my seeds to germinate, 2 questions though.

1st, any suggestions on how i could block light coming out of my intake and exhaust holes, other than darkroom louvers?

2nd, i don't have space for a seperate veg chamber, i only have a small space available that would fit a cloning dome and a small light, so no mother. i will need to clone, then somehow keep them alive and small while all the others finish flowering, and i start the veg cycle again. what do you guys do in this situation, should i just clone a few weeks into flowering?

    thanks in advance

you should invest in buliding a small "veg box and seperate the two, you will need new supplies but it will be worth it in the end. i built a 3' x 8' x 5' tunnel last year ( i will add pics) and it costed me arou $200 - $300 for every thing. half of one of the 8 plants covered the cost. Its deffinatly worth doing it right and reusing the system over and over. for the light you should use tarps or something of the sort to reflect the light to the ground.

Hey faulker welcome to the site.

You can take some duct tape and seal it around your exhaust and the wall a few times to hold it in place and block the light. For your cloning problem, you can clone 2 weeks into flowering latest in my opinion, just pick off the flowers...And how much space do you exactly have, there growth will determine on the time it takes for you to finish and the light your going to use. ....Im off to hit the bong, ttyl fellow canadian:smokin:

if you clone during flowering, which you can do, all your clones will be in flowering stage. This means you have to revert them to back to vegetative and then back to flowering which will effect your plants cycle. i am having a problem with that as we speek, i got some super silver haze clones that are in flowering and are currently in shock for the past week due to the reversion.

How long were your clones into flowering? If it was within a week it should have been fine, maybe cause some stress.

Install 90 degree bends over the inlets and outlets and paint the inside of the 90 degree bend black with spray paint. That should stop any light leak you have without a louvre You can use pvc pipe or get those metal pieces designed for ducting, either work just fine. If some still gets out you can always add a little more pipe to the end of the 90 degree to make it longer. Hope that helps.

Try black stockings over the area, or attach some PVC piping, black of coarse, like mentioned, then put black stockings at the ends, this helps block out light, along with dust from coming into your intake.
I am researching some different ways to store clones, will let you know if I have any suggestions for you. At this point I have just put a clone in a glass of Super Thrive and water for about a week and it stopped growth and stayed healthy, and now it is planted and rooted.
    Adieu

both holes are on the back, and i want it right up against the wall so can't go with the pvc pipes, but i will try the stockings.
Also, i have some seeds i bought like 3-4 years ago. nirvana & homegrown fantaseed strains. they've been in their original bag, in a drawer this whole time. i decided to try and germinate them (the ones that didn't crumble that is). if they germinate, does that mean they're good to go, or is it a waste, cause even if they germinate they'll produce a crappy plant? thanks for all the help guys.
