is neem oil good stuff?

hey guys was just ordering some grow surplies.. i was going to order some neem oil.. am i right in thinkin this stuff is good at keepin thrips and spider mites at bay? or even kill them if they apear?

Neem oil is great, the best, wonderful, I love it, I mist it on my plants every day. If you look in my log you might notice they are very glossy... it's the neem.
I've got thrips and they can't do any damage to my neem-treated plants, lol!!! Suckers!
Safer Soap is fine but IMO neem is better for prevention of every problem known to gardeners!

BTW the product called 'fungicide 3' in the turquoise bottle at walmart/home depot/lowes is actually neem oil, much cheaper than any other product. But I recently switched to Green Light because it's organic.

thanks for the help- i dunno if anyone has figured it out yet, but Harris7 and I are growing together. Our posts are quite different cause we have different interests and concerns, but the plants are the same. We will definitely pick up some neem oil, I like the fact that it keeps bugs away.

another question- i have clones and tiny seedlings growing in the same room as the plants potentially infected with thrips. Are the clones and seedlings safe to spray as well?

I've never had a problem. Since I mist neem every day, I mix it kinda weak. So you can really control the dosing... spray, allow to dry, see where you're at. After about a week of daily treatment is when I started to see the leaves shining.

And I don't spray any plants until they have 2 sets of 'real' leaves. Clones should be totally fine. Neem is a really mild product. I think in India it's used to treat fungal infections like Athlete's foot!

Neem oil rocks! I was very skeptical at first because it was not erradicating a spider mite problem we had in our veg closet. However, after a few dosings and some better temperature control, I find its working beautifully. We almost had a mite problem break out into one of my larger flowering rooms, a big scare. 2 sprays later...the problem is completely and utterly gone. The veg closet is now clean as well, and I also spray my plants outside and they have kept away thrips like a charm.

My only recommendation is to get Einstein Oil. Its twice as expensive and the only other ingrediant is sesame oil. Unfortunetly, its not as easy as adding some sesame oil yourself to regular neem oil (Ive tried), but its highly worth the extra $9. The biggest difference is that the Einstein will kill a lot more eggs. The Neem oil typically seems to mainly kill live mites and such but not so much the eggs. The Einstein really kills em all. I spray most of my stuff once a week as a precautionary move. It also will help with mold and other things like that.

Some of my mothers got pretty ravaged...they are fully recovered now and mite free for the last 3 weeks. I also spray the room. Its 100% organic.

do you spray it under the lights.. or do you spray right when lights go off/on.
