Water cure, valid drying method?

Good day,

A friend has some amazing Northen lights outside which are about ready to be harvested. I talked him into going the long road with drying and do proper curing but he is getting impatient and just asked me if I ever heard about water curing. Supposedly, this is a method for the impatient where the harvested buds are put into water first.

I looked a bit on the net for answers and opinions differ so thats why I ask here. Anyone have experience with this?
