definitely need a good fan-cooled hood, or a fan-cooled light tube ... I'm running a 250cfm duct fan thru my 400-watt HPS, and it still needs MORE airflow ... that is in addition to an exhaust fan, and an oscillating fan inside the cabinet ... canopy temps around 85-90 daytime, 75 at night ... I don't get too excited about it, my plants are thriving, regardless ... I will add bigger fans, if I ever get around to it (too stoned to bother)

idunno thats a huge light for that small space. not to mention mh bulbs get blazin hot. I dont think ur gonna drop temps enough with one or 2 solutions. ur probably gonna need a cooled hood+ 300cfm or more duct fan or blower and maybe an ac for the room i had a 2x4x6 room and it never got cool so i moved to my closet which is alot bigger and stays like 15 degress cooler and i only upgraded to a 465cfm blower u need to get cool air in and hot air out asap. ur temps should drop when u flower if u use a hps bulb they run a little cooler.

i'm not so sure about that. i have a 400 in a space almost twice that.
6'x3'x2' and it gets pretty hot even if you have good ventilation. other than than the fact that with that much light, your plants' likely to outgrow that space.

So, 2 square feet? I think a 400 watt light is overkill for that little area. You'd be better off getting four 42-watt (real watts, not equivalent) CFLs. That'd give you about 4500 lumens per square foot, which is plenty, and it'd be cheaper to run and much cooler. You really just need more area though; even one plant will get cramped in that small area.
