Whats wrong with me and smoking bubblers?

Yesterday I purchased a bubbler. Note I have always got high of joints, not bongs or pipes. Anyway, I packed a bowl, stood outside and took a big hit. The smoke was so harsh and rough on the throat but I took it. That got me pretty high straight away. Then I took another hit, and i couldn't handle it - cough attack!

Does this stuff take getting used to or something. Or am I not puttin enough water in my bubbler? ( i think i am). Should i put my bubbler in the fridge before i used it to make the water really cold? I mean, it gets me high quick, but i don't like smokin from it when it gives me a throat like that. I couldn't even finish a joint after that, I just put it out half way and had another hit of my bubbler - and coughed again like mad.

Im not new to smoking. Ive been smokin pot and cigarettes for 6 years now, so why can't my throat handle it!!

It's because you're taking huge fucking hits. I like huge hits because of how they feel like they completely kill your lungs and that makes the high come on pretty quickly, but if you don't like that then just burn small amounts and stop lighting the weed quickly after you start to burn it. The less you burn, the less you inhale, so don't torch it and the hits will be much easier to handle.

agreed, with bubblers you'll get a big hit and doesn'y feel like much. Trust me you are.

Since you're used to joints and such, I think the problem may be that the bubbler is too efficient for you to handle it all right now. I had the same problem the first couple of times I smoked out of a bubbler, it was so harsh and I just couldn't stop coughing, though it got me high as hell. Just keep at it, and before you know it, you'll be hitting that thing like a pro.
