There are always trigger events. We've just never been in a time like this before..

when i get home, im going to try meditation for the first time. i havent a clue on how to do it, but it should come naturally

right?

Depends on who you are.

If you are the type of can calm themselves very quickly and easily, and accepts the peace of not moving or thinking, then it shall be easy.

If you constantly think, and constantly have a voice in your head then it may be hard, but that's a good thing because it means you have a lot of energy to work with and an advanced meditation is necessary.

If not, just stare into the mirror, locking eyes with your own reflection. Do not move, nor think, but breathe deeply and realize what you are seeing.

Every thought and emotion will be amplified one million times? So anyone pissed off today would have murdered the people around him. Anyone a little sad would have cut their own throat. Every thought would have been a stroke of genius.

Seemed like just another day to me. Probably best to stay out of the Sun though. All those extra UV rays would have burnt most people to a crisp.
