A chamber in a bong in the bottom part of the bong, usually, where the smoke fills up, when it fills up, you release either the carb hole, or lift the stem tube up. Go look at the Bong Thread in the pictures section and you'll see what I'm talking about.

The design can be anything you want. It can be a big chambers or a little chamber. They're like mini smoke chambers, where the smoke fills up.

Anyways, hope this made some sense.

yeah nicely said, a good place to start is using like a glass bottle if you have the proper tools. If you can get a drill that won't shatter the glass, then you are in good shape to make a nice lil creature

sorry to bring it off topic....but i feel like i should contribute...

ok, whatever you do, do NOT use the white PVC piping. the polymers break down in to cargtinogenic monomers over time (IIRC) and its made out of a bunch of other nasty stuff you shouldnt smoke.

Yeah, a chamber is usually filled with water, so when you inhale, you're drawing air (smoke) from the bowl through the water and into the chamber. This way the smoke forms bubbles and is filtered by the water.

Also, if you've never made a bong before, be careful which materials you use (as someone else said before). Many household things create toxic fumes when heated. A store bought piece is really the only "safe" thing.

GLASS all the way. a chamber can even be in a pipe, it's just a place smoke can build up to shoot into your lungs when u release the carb. big bongs have huge chambers so you can pull the slide a really rip it up into your lungs
