In the end I bought a DiscDr for £30 which was quite expensive. It repaired the damaged disk in minutes and I was then able to copy it and give the owner an unscratched disc in return. I've had it over a year and only used it around 6 times, but if you know people who have scratched discs u can provide a service and make ur money back as companies do..
