Its not the lack of oxygen, actually you only use 16% of the oxygen you breath normaly. But you're right that holding your breath does increase your high, because more of the THC is absorbed into the blood through the lungs.

I used to think that aswell...but then I was told by a few different people that the surface area of the lungs is so big all THC is absorbed almost instantly...so im going with the lack of oxygen thing aswell.

Maybe it's just a placebo
