Well, how do you have it set as one event? Does it give you the option to put the ON and the OFF time into one event? It's hard to say without having it in my hand...but I'd say try the separate events thing. If you tell me what model it is, MAYBE I can find the manual on the web and read it and tell you what you might be doing wrong.

They have no problem switching the outlet "ON", but when it comes to the off cycle they do not shut off! I know it is not a defect, since all 3 of the timers are having the same issue.
