Impossible for this to work. Illegal activities are by nature capitalistic (unless they turn into turf wars and a monopoly is established, which isn't going to happen with marijuana). In a capitalistic economy, the suppliers want maximum return on their investments, subject to demand and what people are willing to pay. That's just the way the world works.

But I think the high prices actually have a beneficial effect: they are SO high that more people are learning to grow their own, which means more growers and theoretically greater availability (supply), and therefore less pressure on the prices to rise as there are fewer people buying from the dealers (lower demand). Best bet: grow your own and give it away to your friends for free. That's what I do. That takes you AND your friends out of the 'demand' part of the supply-and-demand equation, leaving the same supply as before available for a smaller group of people. If enough people do this, the price will have to drop. Obviously there aren't too many people doing this though. Heh.
