lexapro and drank (not dank related)

not really the right place but ive seen some knowledgable people on these threads so figured id ask u guys. im on lexapro, i know your not supposed to drink on most ssri's, and they definitly dont recommend it. but i drank alot of brandy with some buddies last night, i always drink a ton of water before during and after drinkin cuz i got a day job, water keeps me from being hung over. i feel fine today, and i felt good last night. so basically if i only drink once in a while, and keep myself nice and filtered with water will i be ok, or do u advise against it? we're talkin once in a blue moon here.

I'm sure the official response should always be a discouragement of drinking, and that's for good reason. If you're taking an antidepressant, you're counter-acting its effects by ingesting ethyl alcohol, which is a depressant, even if you only drink once in a blue moon.

But I know that's also not reality. If you're not overdoing it and taxing your liver with binge drinking, you can probably get by with occasional infrequent drinking. Don't be surprised if it affects the action of your Lexapro though. Keep up that water and be very careful. No drinking and driving, right?

already have a dui under my belt, why i only drink once in a blue moon, always got somewhere to go, u can hurt someone or yourself, and that shites expensive and time consuming (classes and whatnot). never drank alot before, just made a bad decision once. i felt a little anxiety today, but not like before the lexapro, then again i drank like 5 cups of coffee cuz i didnt feel crappy just lacking adequate sleep.

Glad to hear your anti-drinking-driving policy. Sorry you had to go through that DUI experience.

Like I said, just use good judgement with whatever drinking you do. Hopefully very little. And don't automatically assume occasional anxiety is just because of any recently ingested alcohol. It happens occasionally even when you're on meds and it serves a purpose. Caffeine and/or lack of sleep can contribute to that just as easily as a hangover.

Nice talking with you ZiRomE. Hope you have plenty of anxiety-free, good-feeling days ahead.

Salut! (I'm just kidding, too.) I'm toasting you with vodka-free Bloody Mary Mix, my favorite drink in all the world right now.

I just decided happy was more accurate. I'm still flirty, too. He's home, but he has been all night. The change wasn't related to that. He'd be the first to admit I'm flirty.
