I used to predominantly listen to Rock but ever since I started smoking weed I've just started to really really feel rap and hip hop, anything with a good beat really, even when I'm not high. Get some Bay area rap like Mac Dre, or some old E40. Such crazy lyrical raps. " The shrooms I consume, it's making me laugh, I'm as high as the eye on a Fing Girrafe." Best rap out there IMO.

I don't really dig most rap or hip-hop. Some of it's pretty mad, like Aussie hip-hop. But I generally listen to music with instruments. Not some gangster pressing buttons then talking over the top. I have broad musical tastes, though, so I'll listen to anything at least once.

One more thing, that argument that everyone thats had a hard life listens to rap, what the fuck was with that? Dude, you wanna hear angry music about killing people to make you feel good, buy some fucking Cannibal Corpse, Suffocation, Obituary, etc. Death metal shit. Or Nick Cave. Or Johnny Cash. Not some douchewad being paid by MTV to look "gangsta". No offence intended.

I don't really watch TV at all. And if you'd re-read my post then you'd see that I wasn't telling you to listen to death metal when high. I don't, and don't plan on starting to. And I also never said I dislike all rap. There is good rap, it's just that the majority of hip-hop and rap doesn't appeal to my musical tastes. Read my post again and cut the hate.

Point made. I guess to look at it like that, it doesn't take much talent, or as much talent be one demensional as opposed to multiple. \

I see where your coming from but you are forgetting to be a good rapper ( good as in critically aclaimed rather than bubblegum commercial sucess) it takes just as much if not more talent then to be a good rocker or good country music singer. This is because that one dimension that rappers do is so much deeper then anything "multidemensional" artists do. Just look at the lyris style and delivery of a Nas, Rakim, Tupac, Biggie, or Saigon compared to a Fall Out Boy, Tim Mcgraw or Guns and Roses. BTW don't get me wrong I like pre emo rock as well, I just happen to like rap more. Happy Token:rasta:

wait wait, has anyone here used pro tools or tried making a beat that's actually somewhat good? that is a true skill in itself, as it does require you to have some musical ability to make beats. sure its not playing an acutal instrument, but it takes a lot of talent nonetheless

I don't think anyone can describe what happens when you're baked and you turn on some grade A undergorund hip hop, listening to every word he says, bobbing your head to the beat.......VIBING.


It's the best. And because of it, I don't listen to ANY other type of music, because it's not as satisfying as hip hop.
